Day 6

4.21.10

Hello Everyone!

Today was a busy day! Jessie and Risa were able to be a part of a couple of Christen's English classes. It was encouraging and refreshing to see Christen´s ministry in action. The Lord is really using her gifts and passions here! Paola was the first student of the day and Jessie and Risa had a lot of fun acting out English phrases for Paola to learn. She is an excellent student. She is a prime future intern candidate for Hope Chapel.Next, the three girls walked over to Camila and Maninho's home to help with another English class. Camila and Maninho are also very dedicated and excited to learn English. After all the studying was over, Camila made everyone chocolate covered popcorn and it was delicious!Teaching English is such a tool! Not only does this help youth in a small town receive opportunities for personal education and career advancement...but the discipleship and spiritual mentoring is off the charts in effectiveness!

The three girls continued on by walking with Camila over to Angelica´s home for the cell group that Christen attends. There were 13 young women there, including us, and Angelica shared a message that was very challenging and solid. She read from Psalm 1 and went on to discuss how instead of focusing on what we are leaving behind when we walk with the Lord, we should focus on what we are gaining and receiving with Christ. After cell group, the girls headed to the church for night 2 of the Worship Workshop! Risa played two songs on being hungry for the Lord, and then shared a follow up message to Jessie´s about all the different ways we can worship the Lord. You worship the Lord where your passions are. Then Risa continued teaching the Holiness song and we split the group into dancers and singers. The dancers already memorized a four minute dance! The guitar playing turned into an awesome worship session. Even though we don't know each other's language, we learned very quickly that worship transcends all language barriers.

To finish off an already wonderful day, we returned back to Sammy´s to almost 20 friends ready for a meal at 1am in the morning! Which is not an uncommon experience at the Diab home.

Jessie's favorite things of today: Cell group at Angelica's, the sugar free chocolate Sammy bought her to have with her coffee, lots and lots of hugs from the little girls at the worship workshop, and seeing Christen in her element.

Salvation belongs to the LORD; your blessing be on your people! Psalm 3:8

  1. I am so touched by what the team has done in 6 days. This is encouraging and gives me more ideas on how to blog. Especially the dancing workshop and teaching english which could be down my allie way later in the mission field. Who ever wrote the blogs were really organized and had great photo choice. Thank you for your technical and spiritual service unto the Lord:)
